My phone is the LG Chocoloate 3. First and foremost, I need to get some pics off my phone and onto my PC. I can't figure out how to do this. I have it connected to the PC via USB, but I still tin't browse the pics stored on the phone.

In the phone settings, there's an selection concerning USB machine syncing which I gear up to "Ask On Plug." When I plug in the USB cable, the telephone asks me whether I desire to sync data or sync music. If I select Sync Music, things exercise work. I see a new removable storage device appear in Explorer, and I am able to access the music folder and move files back and forth. However, when I select Sync Data, zilch happens. Nothing at all. No new device shows up in Explorer, so I can't access the phone in whatever style.

Btw I have Windows seven. Could that be causing compatibility issues somehow, since the phone was made before Win7 came out?

Take the MicroSD menu out of the phone and place it into a standard MicroSD card reader. If you don't have a MicroSD reader the phone should have come up with an adapter for standard SD readers.

But the phone doesn't have a MicoSD bill of fare. It has a slot for it but it'due south empty. And so the pics are stored on phone memory.

Put a carte du jour in the telephone, use the phone to movement the pictures to the carte (one by 1, probably), and so put the menu into your reckoner. Or, bring it to a Verizon store (or third party affiliate) and pay to take them transfer everything via their celebrite.

Edit - Or, yous know... google it:

Well, I was hoping there's a true solution here, something not requiring me to get an SD bill of fare and carte du jour reader. Or spending coin in other ways. I don't even have whatsoever kind of menu reader in my PC. Thanks for that link, but the solutions there are inconvenient.

I don't understand why it won't work the way the music file syncing works. If I "Sync Music", I can access the folder on the phone memory in explorer and practice file transfers every bit if I'm dealing with a flash drive. That suits me perfectly. I don't get why this doesn't apply to the other information on there.

If I do want to spend money to make this simpler in the future, what would be the cheapest road? Bluetooth receiver? There is an selection in the telephone to select Transport --> Via Bluetooth. Although this would also but piece of work 1 by 1...

In the past I've used Bitpim
http://www.bitpim.org/

Thank you. I as well came across someone mentioning this on another forum when I was googling. That looks like the ticket.

That, or possibly the LG software from their website. They take some kind of PC Sync software which I oasis't tried still.

I still don't sympathise why LG is making this so complicated, instead of it being as simple equally the music syncing.

Ugh. Well, neither of the above methods worked. Bitpim recognized the telephone just it couldn't encounter whatsoever data on it. And the software from LG said that it doesn't support my phone model. I ended upwardly just sending the pics every bit text letters to my email ane past ane.

Are smart phones much better about this? I'm thinking maybe I should get a card reader, but would I need information technology if I were to go a smart phone?

Yes, they are much better.

No, you lot wouldn't need a card reader. About the just reason y'all might need a card reader with a smartphone is if you were into installing custom ROMsets or whatnot, and you don't strike me as a person who would be doing that. :)

With an Android phone, anyway, you accept access to the entire SD menu simply past plugging in the USB cable.

You can literally get a large enough microSD and card reader for $five, or spend $10 and go 1 for a future smartphone. Hell, if yous go into a Dart repair store and ask the tech nicely, they might even give you 1 for costless.

With Bitpim and a chocolate 3 I read that you have to set up it to data over USB then manually select your telephone and select wallpaper to transfer the pictures. My old non smartphones would never sync with information technology simply i could scan the filesystem and find my own stuff. As well, just going into a carrier's store they have machines that will transfer pics out of virtually whatever phone.

Then put your retentiveness carte du jour in your usb memory card adapter and put that into your USB port on your PC.

While having new members is fantastic - welcome to the [H], atheompson - one tip comes in handy: before you jump into a new thread you've never been in, brand sure you look at the date of the last post - if you lot look at the post just above the one y'all fabricated yous'll see that final mail service was made on April 27, 2012 meaning over iv years ago. :)

This is what's casually referred to as "thread necro" every bit in it's been "dead" for quite some time and you merely revived it aka brought it back to life. Generally, unless yous have a really proficient reason to practise and then, threads that haven't had any posts in thirty-lx+ days tend to be considered dead even though they tin can accept new posts (in instance some updates come along that are considered relevant).

The info you presented is useful, of course, just the chances of the OP (the original affiche aka the thread starter) even has that phone anymore is probably somewhere between cypher and void.

Now for the obligatory:

HOLY THREAD NECRO, BATMAN!!! :D
